Welcome to the DURT blog where you can share your stories from excellent adventures and ask others for their ideas about cool places to go and see.

The snow is still deep here in Utah, and we'll still be doing some adventures in the winter-sport mode for a while. There's more than enough snow to do some backcountry peak bagging in the Wasatch on snowshoes, and that's what we have on tap for this weekend. But on Sunday, we'll get out on the trails for our first training run off road.

So far this Spring, my family and I have dome a couple of fun marathons, the first in New Mexico (Bataan Death March), and the second in California (Big Sur). We're building a solid base so that we can do the things we really enjoy this coming summer season. This summer, I am planning a number of excursions into the wilderness of the Intermountain West. Our first stop will be Moab over the weekend of May 10th. Can't wait. The plan is to cross through the Needles District of Canyonlands, through the Grabens, and down to the Coloradao river in one push out and back. It will make for a long day, but it should be very cool. Stories on that upon return.

Hey I really enjoyed the stories. You have a knack for making the reader feel as if they are right there sharing the experience.

I am a new member of the ATK running club and I'm preparing for my first marathon,(ogden)and it's only about 10 days out. I've been running off and on for years and have always wanted to prepare for a marathon. I've trained pretty hard for the past 4-5 months but have only got up to about 15 miles for my longest run. Yes I am very nervous and will be thrilled if I can finish. You story of Big Sur will surely help as inspiration during this event. I'm 43 years old and I feel as though I have found a hobby that I really love, and I'm hoping that my wife and kids will also become more interested as well.

Good luck in your future training and thanks.
