This is another awesome East Bay park where wilderness can be a reality! There are many opportunities to get off the beaten path and explore wild area, climb steep peaks, and experience incredible sweeping views.

*If you climb to the top of the Maguire Peaks (no trail) you will cut off a mile or so, but be rewarded with a good climb and incomparable views. I like to climb the north peak first, then hit the south peak and follow the ridge down to the road again. Some Class 3 climbing required on two short (~6') sections. Done this way, the route has 3,400 feet of climb in about 11 miles.
